Lois and Lori fixed french toast, mini quiche and BACON!
Monica and Kevin came for breakfast and we had a great time visiting.
Monica is from Brazil. She and Nanee enjoyed talking about Nanee's trips to Brazil.
After breakfast, we took Kailin to a Dr. appointment and I spotted this VW in the parking lot. I haven't seen too many old cars on the island.
According to Lori, this is one of the oldest churches on the islands.
We think that this is an old plantation house, but not sure. I just thought that the tree was cool.
Headed for Lihue...again...
Had to go pick up a couple of Christmas presents. Passed this Buddhist temple again and finally got a decent drive by shot of it. Pretty elaborate fence.
You really get a perspective of the size of a cruise ship when it is in port.
We stopped at a craft store for Lori to pick up some stuff and Kailin wanted to try on a feather boa. Nanee added a cat hat to her outfit.
Kailin then wanted to try on the red boa...so, Nanee had to find something to match! A ladybug.
Then a dog.
Popee was starting to think that they would run out...but no.
Shark!
First a shark and now a vampire.
We just had to play the claw machine at the store. I am not sure who is the bigger "claw machine fanatic" but Kailin seems to like them as much as Popee!
I think that Lori and Nanee spent about 5 bucks trying to win one of the reindeer. No luck, but Lori won a "slap watch" from the other claw machine. You flatten the watch band out and then slap it on your wrist and it coils all the way around. She showed how it works on Popee...I think I still have a welt on my wrist from how hard she smacked it.
Back in the car for the ride home and Kailin "spies" Popee through the watch.
And, Popee "spies" Kailin through the watch!
Stopped at the Waimea Canyon overlook. We are planning on driving up to this on Saturday.
Drove past the power generation plant. Does that look like a Hawaiian Smurf on the side of the building??
Finally back home and picked up London and Smokey to go to the beach. We had heard that the fishermen throw out sharks that get caught in their nets when they get back to the pier and that they wash up on the shore.
Lori and I decided that we wanted to see one, so we headed for the beach north of the pier!
Didn't find any dead sharks, but Smokey sure enjoyed walking in the surf!
We probably walked about a quarter of a mile one way down the beach.
London and Nanee just had to write their names in the sand.
And then Kailin started receiving messages from Mars and scratched them in the sand...
Time to head for the car and home!
Pohaku is a real friendly dog and loves to play with Smokey.
And Eric...
You just can't go wrong with pineapple sausage and vienna sausage!
